Wrap Rings and Chainmaille

Creativity is a weird thing. A very weird thing. It doesn’t care if you’re happy, sad, sick, well, hungry, or full.

I came home from work Friday struggling with a serious head cold. Mixed myself a vitamin C-zinc drink, took some nighttime cold medicine and went to bed.

Saturday I felt a little better, but still yucky. But the need to create was stronger than my head cold. So a wrap ring, and the start of a chainmaille necklace with a stamped pendant later, the muse sated, I took some more nighttime medicine and went to bed.

Beloved

I love Jordan Feliz’s song Beloved. So much so that I’ve made a couple of pieces of jewelry with ‘beloved’ on them. But the one I made this weekend is my favorite so far.

I combined three of my favorite metal working techniques along with two of my favorite metals. First, stamped the word BELOVED on the aluminum blank. Then I riveted the copper heart onto the piece. Then I made the bracelet chain using the Byzantine chainmaille weave using copper and stainless steel (my two fave metals).

Love how it turned out.
